Mikaela & Joey

Our journey began in December of 2021. We were set up on a double date by our best friends Lili and Mark who had already been dating for over a year at the time.

We went out to dinner in Newport and ended the night with drinks at the Lido House Rooftop (which in turn ended up being where Joey popped the question on March 9th, 2024).

Prior to this date, Lili had told Mikaela that I was maybe looking for a Financial Advisor, so of course Mikaela decided to cold call me before our date and schedule a business meeting in the New Year. She definitely surprised me with that call, but I thought to myself “wow, she sounds intelligent”. We had both left for the holidays to be with our families for a couple weeks and we did not really keep in touch, until I ran into Lili at a random Trader Joe’s during Christmas, and it reminded me that I should maybe reach back out to Mikaela. So, I sent her a photo of Lili at Trader Joe’s saying “hello”.

After this, we met up for our business meeting in early January at Light House Café in Newport Beach and I quickly came to know two things about Joey - 1. That he did not need my financial advice because he already had his finances in order, and two, I realized I started to like him and never stopped smiling around him that day.

So, we decided to not talk business again, and I invited Joey out that weekend to San Diego to meet my friends and hang out. And the rest was history for us.

We dated long distance for a year and half from San Diego and Orange County, and every moment we spent together our love for one another and relationship became stronger and stronger. It was only a couple months into dating that we both knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together.
